Innowera Process Runner licensing involves three main components:
- The duration of the license.
- The type or role of the user.
- The shareability of license.

Process Runner pricing starts from U$750 to several thousand dollars per user. A typical license costs a few thousand per user.

Seat-Named – License is locked to a user ID on a specific computer. License is transferable to another user. Innowera License Server will be provided to manage named users.
Floating-Concurrent – License can be freely and concurrently shared by many users provided users are in the licensed site. Innowera provided License Server will have to be installed within your network and must be accessible to all the users who want to use the software.
Subscription – License is locked to a user ID on a specific computer. This type of license offers no transferability to another user or another computer once it is issued.
How can this license be shared among users or transferred to other users?
A seat-named license cannot be shared among users; it is locked to a single windows user ID and computer ID. It can be transferred between users and transferred to another computer.
Is there any wait time to transfer a license to a new user?
There is no wait time to transfer a named license to another user. The transfer can be performed by a user at their convenience. A seat license can be transferred by making a written request to the Innowera License department.
Is it possible to have a generic user name that can be used by different users?
No, a generic user name is not allowed for a seat or named user license type.
How is this license shared among many users or a pool of users?
A floating concurrent license is hosted on the Innowera license server and the users can check-out and check-in the license from the license server.
How many users can use the floating concurrent license?
The number of users that can access a floating concurrent license at the same time is equal to the number of licenses purchased. If two concurrent users floating concurrent license are purchased, many users can install the software and share the license but only two users at any given time can use the software.
What is the Innowera license server and where is it installed?
The Innowera license server hosts the named and floating concurrent license types and manages the licenses within an enterprise. It is installed on a server that is accessible by other computers within the enterprise through TCP/IP.
How do you manage license users and who manages the license users?
A license administrator is required to manage the license server and license users are managed using the license server web interface from within the enterprise. One person or a group of people can manage the license server with some basic training and knowledge of the Innowera license server.
What will happen if all the licenses are in use and a new user wants to use Process Runner?
A message displays on the user screen that all the licenses are in use and to try later along with a link with details about the message.
Does the message tell the user who has the license checked out?
No, the license administrator can identify the user(s) that have the license checked out from the license server interface.
Where does the license sit and how much Admin involvement is required?
The Innowera license server needs to be installed in your infrastructure and license users need to be able to connect to it in order to check-out the Process Runner license (in the case of the floating concurrent license type). After the initial installation and set-up, minimal administration is needed to this license server.
Can standard network security be used to control user access?
Management of the license server is done via a web browser from the license server access page and user access is managed by the control of user privileges.
As a default, we provide 3 Users with different level of control as shown in below table.

What are some of the available tools to report on license usage?
There is a raw log file available from the license server that is not in ready-to-use format, but it can be used to create a report or find an event based on search (ex: license denial). It does not report detailed usage of Process Runner; it provides license check-in or check-out usage. When is the license acquired and released when using Process Runner Excel Add-In?
Opening Excel and working in an Excel file will NOT check-out the Process Runner license. The license check-out will occur only when any of the Process Runner buttons on the Excel Add-In ribbon is clicked. When the user quits or closes Excel, the license is checked-in. When there is no activity for 15 minutes, the license will check-in automatically (due to inactive user, crash, server disconnection etc.). The user can also release the license manually from Excel Add-In.
Is it possible to reduce the 15-minute hold even if the process finishes normally?
No, 15 minutes is the minimum hold duration. If the computer or Excel crashes, the release will be automatic after 15 minutes. The user can either close Excel to release the license or manually release the license if they do not want to close Excel.
Can the 15 minute hold be altered or is it hard coded in the program?
The 15-minute hold duration can be increased, but it cannot be decreased.
Can VBA in Excel be used to release the hold intead of asking the user to do so?
Yes, you can write VBA to close Excel in order to release the license.
Why would I consider a license for only one year term?
A subscription license is ideal for a short term projects, it is low cost and includes maintenance & support.
